Alison is proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ Community.
Her preferred pronouns are she/her.
Alison was a patron of Theatre Cares for some years; a charity connected to the Terence Higgins Trust.
Alison headlined Sydney's Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras to a crowd of 12,000
and performed at the second legal same-sex marriage to take place in the UK in 2014.
Alison is synonymous with the iconic dance anthem "IJWFD"... those who know, know!
And yes ... I have sung that song at funerals, as well as weddings.
I am sometimes asked... "Do you 'do' Gay Weddings?"
"No ?" I reply. I 'do' Weddings."
In launching her sister website LGBTQ+ CEREMONIES in 2019,
Alison was mindful not to create a further divide when her focus is so purely on bringing people together.
Our community is hugely under-represented, especially in the wedding industry, and the funeral industry needs to evolve also.
That became even more clear in 2020, in attending the informative conference - "Non-binary Thinking - LGBTQIA+ Identity in Funerals".
I do not use my profile within my community to attract the 'pink pound'.
I simply wish to open my heart and attract like-minded clients who need extra assurance that they are safe in my care.
I stand in service of my community as I always have, and I always will.
